Summary
Karissa Murphy is a passionate and trustworthy attorney, and has helped numerous individuals who were injured receive the compensation they deserve. Having a lifelong interest in law, Karissa completed a B.A. at the University of Pittsburgh in Political Science and English Writing in 2014, and moved on to obtain a Juris Doctor degree at Pittsburgh’s Duquesne University School of Law in 2018. While in a civil rights clinic at Duquesne University, she helped to organize and participate in a large scale expungement and pardon workshop for individuals in Allegheny County. Karissa discovered while in law school that personal injury law was her passion, and started working for a Pittsburgh-area civil law firm during her first year of study. Having lived with her mother in Pennsylvania from childhood, Karissa was inspired to settle down in Pittsburgh to pursue her dream career as an attorney. Karissa joins Phoenix Accident and Injury Law Firm as an attorney, her work being overseen by an Arizona licensed attorney. She brings a fresh influence, with a drive to help clients with compassion and integrity.
Enduring Focus
Karissa has firsthand experience with the devastation involved in personal injury. While in law school, a close family member was in a very serious car accident where a driver ran a red light in a company vehicle and struck her loved one’s car. Thankfully, her family member recovered, however they were left with a permanent brain injury and other significant physical issues. This terrible accident further influenced Karissa to support her clients’ needs in an empathetic way.
Dynamic Influence
Karissa has a deep understanding of how her practice can benefit the people of Phoenix. She has completed several clinics and internships around civil rights and meaningful research with, practices in and around Pittsburgh, PA and is excited to transfer those skills to the East Valley. Volunteering with election protection is one way Karissa stays connected to her community.
Additionally, Karissa holds many forms of recognition from national organizations. For example, Karissa was awarded Nationally Ranked Top 10 Under 40 Lawyer in the Field of Personal Injury from the National Academy of Personal Injury Attorneys in 2020. She also received First Place National Moot Court Champion in 2017 from the George Washington School of Law.
Karissa maintains her resilience and dynamism by reading voraciously. She stays active by kayaking on the Youghiogheny and Monongahela rivers when she can. She loves to attend Steelers and Penguin games in her free time. Karissa enjoys spending a Saturday afternoon in the Strip District as time allows.
Karissa sustains an avid interest in the outdoors by hiking local areas with her two dogs, whom she loves very much. Phoenix Accident and Injury Law Firm is proud to have her onboard!
